Since then, we have been busy with the main design, setting up a marketing plan, securing budget, etc.<P>We decided to use Kickstarter as a marketing tool and as funding for the project. The <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/325925916/mobile-launcher-apollo-saturn-model-kit?ref=ksr_staff" target="AirLock">Kickstarter campaign</a> has a limited number of full kits available (1/144: 10 pieces, 1/96: 4 pieces and 1/72: 1 piece). There is also an extra pledge with which you collect your kit in person at the Scale Model World 2015 in Telford UK on Nov. 7, 2015 together with a dinner with the team of LVM Studios. <P><center><iframe width="400" height="300" src="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/325925916/mobile-launcher-apollo-saturn-model-kit/widget/video.html" frameborder="0" scrolling="no">

Within six hours of launching the campaign, we were fully funded. Fantastic! A big thank you to our backers for helping to get this product released!

From November 2015, the kits will be available and due to the high cost of a full kit we decided to split up the model kits in several parts. This way, the model kits will be available to a larger public and you can purchase parts for your mobile launcher as you go.

Because the limited edition full kits sold out so quickly, LVM and its distributors and dealers have decided to add extra rewards to the Kickstarter campaign: Part 1 of the Mobile Launcher Apollo Saturn kit in the scales 1/144, 1/96 and 1/72.

Some people asked us why so expensive? It will be huge model kits, the height of the smallest kit is already over 80 centimeters and the largest version will be over 1.6 meters high. Also it is not a model kit which will sell 10,000 units as space subject are more of a kind of niche market.

Looks like my Airfix and Bandai Saturn V models will finally get a LUT.

This is by far, a much cheaper option LMV has produced. It took me over 10 years, and around $2000 US to make my 1/144 tower from Evergreen Plastic. These kits are half my cost, but I have already made one.

The LMV towers will be strong, accurate, detailed and a great talking piece in your homes, as mine is. My hat goes off to LVM and there great work they have achieved on these model kits.

LVM Studios

We have been working on the prototypes for the two first kits.

We lasercut the base of the mobile launcher and everything fit perfectly. We ran into a problem that the polystyrene material was to expensive so we tested MDF and the structural strength of the construction is good. So we have to change the plastic material to MDF.

We also worked on the cladding and top of the Mobile Launcher, which is included in kit 2. The cladding and top are CNC milled.

LVM Studios

Here is the new update of LVM Studios, where we have been busy with the parametric design of the LUT.

Meanwhile we also have been building the Saturn V from Dragon for the 1/72 display at Scale Model World 2015 in Telford, but there were problems with the S1-C stage, which have led to space problems with the tail service masts (TSM) on the mobile launcher that had to be solved.
